Under the Clean Water Act regulatory agencies require “no net loss” of stream or wetlands when permitting development activities. As a result, these projects require restoration of lands nearby to compensate for their impacts. Common projects that require mitigation include, but are not limited to:

• Home building projects
• Airport, rail, and transportation projects
